AUGUSTA — Tyler Bailey drove in Reid Shostak in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift the Augusta Elks to a 2-1 win over New Auburn in American Legion action at Morton Field Thursday.

Shostak finished with a pair of hits for Augusta, while Mitchell Caron chipped in with a double. Kolbe Merfield got the start for the Elks and gave up one run over five innings, while Peyton Kennison took over in the sixth and pitched three scoreless innings.

Brandon Varney pitched all eight innings for New Auburn in the loss.

FRANKLIN 2, GARDINER 0: Amos Herrin ran his record to 4-0, giving up just four hits along the way as Franklin (10-1) blanked Gardiner (4-5).

Anthony Franchetti led Franklin, who scored both of its run in the bottom of the sixth, with three hits — including a double.

Kyle Fletcher went the distance for Gardiner in the loss.
