HINCKLEY — Artist Barbara Sullivan will present a workshop, Working In Fresco, from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, at the L.C. Bates Museum. She will introduce participants to the process of making a work in fresco as they create their own work. Fresco is a technique of painting executed upon freshly-laid or wet lime plaster, according to a news release from the museum. Water is used as the vehicle for the colored pigments to merge with the plaster, and with the setting of the plaster, the painting becomes an integral part of the piece. The workshop is free and designed for 10 teens and/or adults. Preregistration is required.

Sullivan is in the museum’s summer art exhibition, “Seasonal Scenes: The Beauty of Rural Maine.” The exhibition and workshop are sponsored by the Maine Expansion Arts Fund of the Maine Community Foundation.

For more information about the museum’s Fresco workshop or to register, contact the museum at Good Will-Hinckley at 238-4250 or [email protected]. The museum, on U.S. Route 201, is open 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Wednesday to Saturday and 1-4:30 p.m. Sunday, and other times by appointment.
