AUGUSTA — A perennial plant and seed sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at Viles Arboretums Visitors Center, 153 Hospital St.

All plants and seeds, donated by the Kennebec Valley Garden Club, are hardy field-grown Maine plants. There also will be a white elephant table. Pumpkin painting will be available for the children at no charge. Maps and apple variety lists will be available for self-guided tours of the arboretum’s Heirloom Apple Collection.

Seasonal flower demonstrations will begin at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. One seasonal floral arrangement created from each session will be auctioned off at the end of the demonstration. All proceeds of the plant sale and auction will benefit the club.

The closing reception is set for 4-6 p.m. at the Sculpture Symposium. The reception will feature 13 nationally known artists with the sculptures they have created during the week, children’s art on display, stone sculptures by Maine sculptors, music and food.
