Free ME from Lung Cancer plans to host its 10th annual Save Your Breath 5K and walk in-person and virtually on Saturday, Oct. 15.
The live event will begin at the Kennebec Valley YMCA at 31 Union St. in Augusta.
Registration fees will increase from $35 to $40 on event day and are $20 for children 13 and younger.
An awards ceremony will be held at Bateau Brewing at 149 Water St. in Gardiner. Cash prizes and medals will be awarded to winners of the live event.
All proceeds from this event will support early lung cancer screening, radon air abatement systems and research, according to a news release from the nonprofit organization based in Augusta. The nonprofit also is looking for sponsors for this year’s event as well as volunteers that would be interested in helping on event day.
