The Winthrop Maine Historical Society is set to host its annual plant sale from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 21, at the Winthrop History and Heritage Center at 107 Main St.; rain or shine.
Members plan to cover the parking lot with plants for event, and will be available to help with plant selection and carrying plants to cars.
Plant donations are welcome and must come sale-ready in a clean pot, plastic bag or container. Each plant needs to be marked with the name of the plant, color of the blossom or leaves and whether it’s a sun or shade plant, if possible, according to a news release from the society.
All non-invasive plants will be accepted. Plants do well if dug up a week before the drop off, which is Friday, May 20, at the parking lot.
Contact the society about donations at 215-589-8005.
All plant donations and proceeds from the sale support the collecting, preserving and interpreting the information and artifacts that comprise and exemplify the history and heritage of Winthrop and the surrounding area.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
