FAIRFIELD — Three people were injured Saturday evening when a Ford Mustang crossed the center line on Norridgewock Road and struck an oncoming GMC pickup truck, police said.
A preliminary investigation found that driver fatigue may have been a factor in what police described as a nearly head-on collision at about 8:45 p.m. near the intersection with Adams Road.
All three people involved in the wreck were taken to a hospital and later released, according to a news release issued by Fairfield police spokesman, Officer Casey Dugas.
The Mustang was being driven north by 36-year-old Andrew Fonck of Livermore Falls when it crossed the center line and struck the southbound pickup driven by John Chamberlain, 68, of Norridgewock, Dugas said. Fonck was traveling alone and Chamberlain was traveling with his wife, 67-year-old Elizabeth Chamberlain.
Fairfield police were assisted at the scene by Fairfield and Benton Fire-Rescue, Delta Ambulance, Maine State Police and Clinton police.
