Paul LePage is a carpetbagger who moved back to Maine from Florida just so he could run for a third non-consecutive term as governor, something that’s only been tried once in recent memory, by Joe Brennan in 1990. Apparently LePage thinks he’s the only guy who can solve the state’s problems.

Certainly LePage has an inspiring life story, like something out of Charles Dickens.

He was a bright light as Waterville mayor. But somewhere along the line, he grew much less appealing. “I was (like) Trump before there was a Trump,” he boasts. He refused to work with a Democratic Legislature and threatened to punch people.

When Janet Mills was elected, it was like a breath of fresh air after a long hot spell. She was decisive, intelligent and a real problem solver, making Maine’s COVID-19 response one of the best in the nation.
