The folk duo Castlebay, composed of Julia Lane and Fred Gosbee, plan to present a concert in celebration of Earth Day at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, at First Baptist Church of Gardiner, 47 Church St.

The duo is composed of Julia Lane and Fred Gosbee. Their songs and poetry will interweave with Celtic harp, guitar, fiddle and woodwinds.

Traditional music and lore of the Celtic lands are alive with imagery associated with humanity’s relationship to the natural world. In addition to performing Celtic music, both Lane and Gosbee have composed songs about Maine and its rugged beauty. These songs create an awareness of the environment itself and people’s responsibility to care for it, according to a news release from the church.

Castlebay’s concert also will support the effort to restore the stained-glass windows of this historic church. Lane states that light coming through the artistic windows makes her think of the “peace and inspiration of a walk through sunlit forest and fields.”

Parking is available, and the church building is wheelchair accessible. A donation of $15 for the concert will support the window restoration fund.

There also is a suggested donation of $8 for a bean supper at 5 p.m. If suggested amounts will influence a decision to attend, attendees may feel free to give an amount they can afford.
