Mid-Maine Regional Adult Community Education hosted its graduation on May 30 at Waterville Senior High School. Eighteen of the 28 learners received their high school diplomas and their HiSET credentials.

The graduates are embarking on a variety of career paths, including nursing, early childhood, cosmetology, Marines, CNA, certified medical assistant, plumbing and heating, U. S. Postal Service, cyber security, and criminal justice. Other learners are already employed throughout the city of Waterville and beyond, according to a news release from Hannah Bard, director of Mid-Maine Regional Adult Community Education.

Guest speakers, presenters and two graduates, Sabryna Reynolds and Miranda Prime, shared their journeys that led to this night. The keynote speaker was Arlene Toulouse, a 40-plus year academic instructor who will retire this year.

MMRACE has been a regionalized public adult education program receiving local support from two school districts — Waterville Public Schools and RSU 18. The community, however, has supported adult education for over 50 years as one of Maine’s oldest adult education programs.
