
LEWISTON — Police said Thursday they were investigating an attempted child abduction that occurred at about 3:30 a.m. on Wood Street in Lewiston.
The child was reported to be safe and uninjured.
Detectives were canvassing the area of Sabattus and College streets, asking neighbors to help identify surveillance photographs of a male walking across the street.
Police described the suspect as a thin Black man who looked to be between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall.
The investigation was continuing late Thursday, according to police.
