Legal hunting should not be unfair, inhumane
To some degree, I can accept legal hunting as a means for wildlife population control. But I cannot accept hunting as a sport for trophies. Nor can I accept unfair or inhumane hunting, no matter how long it's been done.

Photo seems to convey a bias against LePage
The Kennebec Journal has used the same photo of Gov. Paul LePage for the past month or more. It is a photo that I believe conveys a bias against by this newspaper.

Definition of noise depends on who’s making it
Bikers have a one-day event that brings thousands of toys to thousands of kids who would not have a Christmas if not for all the bikers. People complain about traffic and noise for a short time, but they should think about the kids instead of themselves for a change.

The story ("Graduates finish treatment, move forward") in the Sept. 18 newspaper highlights both the great efforts of two veterans who turned around their post-military lives in the face of great challenges, and the important programs for offenders who face up to their substance abuse and mental health problems.

Governor twists facts to his own liking
I read with interest Gov. Paul LePage's reasons for not expanding MaineCare. He used a report from Michigan that supported expansion of the program and twisted it to his liking so that he could say that MaineCare would be expanded only to include young men who smoke and drink.

We’re concerned more about lobsters than babies
The news on Sept. 18 included a report that PETA is taking Maine fishermen and processors to task for their inhumane treatment of lobsters.
