Statewide meeting to be held in Unity

UNITY — Grassroots climate organization 350 Maine will hold its first statewide meeting from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Unity College’s student activities building. 350 Maine works in association with 350.org, an international organization that focuses on climate crisis. The number 350 represents parts per million of atmospheric carbon that permits a livable planet.

A handful of people become professional pumpkin carvers each fall, specializing in fantastical designs. Among them are Alex Wer, self-styled “Pumpkin Geek,” who lives near Sacramento, Calif.; Scott Cummins, a Perryton, Texas, middle-school art teacher; and Marc Evan and Chris Soria, the Maniac Pumpkin Carvers of New York City.

WILTON — A son, Kaiden James Hopper, was born at 10:08 a.m. Sept. 26 at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston to Meghan and James Hopper of Wilton. He weighed nine pounds, one ounce and measured 22 inches in length.
