Six people died in crashes Friday, the deadliest day on Maine roads this year

Icy conditions were reported on many roads that day, and the deaths included that of a pedestrian and a man whose car plunged into a brook.

The cause of the crash has yet to be confirmed but state police are looking at alcohol as a factor.

Shawn W. Metayer, 60, is also charged with drunken driving in connection with the head-on collision that killed a Litchfield couple on Nov. 9.
