I am writing to address the deplorable and disgraceful condition of Section R at the Veterans Cemetery in Augusta. I arrived in July from North Carolina and found the area dug up because of the headstone restoration project.

Finally, recognition for WWII pilot from our area
This letter is about one of South China's finest. Alfred Kramer, a World War II B-17 pilot, was shot down over France returning from a bombing raid on Germany. The French resistance aided him in a safe return to England.

Legislature should pass uninsured motorist law
Solutions to the problem of uninsured motorists have been proposed in the past. A while ago, an insurance agent told me that a bill to remedy the problem was turned down by our Legislature.

Doing what is right is in America’s best interest
Just think how many American lives could have been saved and how much money our country could have saved if instead of going to war against Adolf Hitler for his attempts to eliminate Jews and other "undesirables," we just sat on the sidelines and watched.

US should help negotiate settlement in Syria
I will be the first person to admit I don't know all the background and issues associated with the Syrian conflict. It's clear to me, however, that the recent deaths of hundreds of civilians by poison gas is a totally unacceptable escalation.
