    I have nothing against religion, unless it is organized. The Mormons, or Latter-day Saints, are extremely organized.

    I read with utter amazement the quote in Wednesday's paper attributed to Peter Thompson of the Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce that "the chamber stays out of partisan political issues."

    Why no rescue action for ambassador in peril?

    When flying combat missions in Southeast Asia in the 1960s and '70s, we all knew that if we had to eject from a crippled aircraft, the command authority in the war zone would pull out all the stops and allocate whatever assets were required to rescue downed airmen, if at all feasible.
