Invitation to attend Occupiers’ trial this week
Five of the nine people arrested on Nov. 27, following our government's eviction of Occupy from Capitol Park, will be tried in Superior Court, Augusta, beginning at 8:30 on Wednesday and Thursday. I'd like to issue an invitation for anyone who is interested to attend.

Consuming energy drinks at an alarming rate?
Today, I stopped at a gas station to buy gas at $3.97 per gallon. A young man, probably in his mid-20s, purchased a box of allergy tablets, a pack of cigarettes, three energy blend drinks and a high-energy drink. As he complained about the price of gas, he did not blink at the cost of the caffeinated and energy blend drinks. His purchases inside equaled his purchase of gas. It is all relative, I guess.

Money spent on elections should be limited
George Smith's March 28 opinion column and John Benoit's April 10 letter are critical of the Maine's Clean Election law and wrongfully argue for ending the program.
