Today I received a letter from 2nd District Rep. Bruce Poliquin announcing that he had received the “Guardian of Seniors’ Rights” award for 2018. I do not doubt that he received this award. His letter states that the award is evidence that he is working hard to protect and preserve Social Security and Medicare. His letter, however, did not mention who gave him the award.

A quick internet search revealed that the award was from the 60 Plus Association, an organization (according to Wikipedia) funded by the Koch brothers and dedicated to the privatization of Social Security and Medicare, not to their preservation (at least in their current forms).

I find Poliquin’s letter to be misleading at best, dishonest at worst. Every senior should know that he is no friend of Social Security nor Medicare. “Fake news” may be working well for the current occupant of the Oval Office, but I for one will not tolerate it in my congressional representative.
