Angus King didn’t look out for us as governor; why would we expect him to as a senator?

I was saddened, but not surprised, to read of former Gov. John Baldacci’s declaration with the same-sex marriage side (Oct. 11), although we all knew where he stood when he signed the same-sex marriage bill.

Having served eight years as the legislative representative of District 59, Randolph and Gardiner, I know the important issues we face as a community and as a state.

It is the thick of the campaign season and negative political material is flooding into our mailboxes, in spite of candidates’ efforts to present their views of a promising future for Maine.

It’s election season, and we’re being faced with a lot of overblown rhetoric from both sides of the aisle. We’re seeing this not only in the presidential race, but in our legislative races as well.

I have known Don Skillings, Republican candidate for House District 85, for 13 years, both personally and professionally.
